North Star Health is an information services company which provides a software platform, LUMINA™, that allows self-insured employers the ability to implement and administer incentive-based (or value-based) health plans.  These plans use incentives to encourage employees to make choices based on value, such as seeking appropriate preventive health services or substituting generic medications for higher priced brand name medications.   Incentive-based plans can also influence behaviors and choices associated with obesity and chronic diseases that account for seventy five percent of our nation's healthcare expenditures.  Most of these conditions can be prevented, delayed or minimized with proper early intervention or behavioral modification.

LUMINA™, is a web based (Software as a Service) solution that integrates wellness, preventive health, disease management and predictive health functionalities into a single integrated platform. It was developed in conjunction with a nationally recognized healthcare policy expert and economist, Dr. Ken Thorpe.
