Beginning January 1st, 2008, all Hughston Clinic employees that elect to
re-enroll in the company's health plan and are compliant with the
age/gender appropriate preventive guidelines by 12/31/2007, will
remain in the ‘Healthy Choice’ option (Unless choosing otherwise).
As last year, this plan is designed to encourage members to adhere
with nationally recognized guidelines for wellness and preventive
care. Specifically, this requires each member (employee; spouse if
applicable) to receive applicable age and gender specific wellness
or preventative screenings or be moved into the ‘Core Option’ plan for the remainder of
the year.
If one member of a family is compliant and the
spouse is not, both members are moved to the 'Core Option' plan the
remainder of the year. For new plan members, the compliance
deadline date is four months from the date of enrollment.
The ‘Healthy Choice’ plan pays for wellness and preventative health
services at 100% and has a deductible requirement which is much
lower than the ‘Core Option’ plan. The bottom line is that members
in the ‘Health Choice’ plan pay less out of pocket for their health
benefit than those in the ‘Core Option’ plan.
Maintaining compliance is not a difficult process and is well worth
the investment.
The overall compliance rate for the Hughston Clinic plan
members in 2007 was 86%! (Approximately double the rate from 2006).
After just one year, the plan and it's members are already realizing
positive returns.
Below is a summary of the preventive care

Participation in the American Cancer
Society's 'Fresh Start' program is a compliance requirement for
smokers in 2008. As a service to The Hughston Clinic
employees, this course will be provided on the main clinic campus
over (2) four week periods. Each weekly session is one hour
long. Other locations for the course offerings can be found by
calling the Columbus office of the American Cancer Society at (706)

members will be credited for participation and remain in the Healthy
Choice Plan. Additionally, the annual surcharge

Failure to complete the "Fresh Start' program by May 1st would
result in moving the member and his/her family, if applicable, to
